Are there any differences between Googlebot & other search engine bots in terms of how they interpret & rank webpages?

There can definitely be some notable differences in how Googlebot interprets and ranks webpages compared to crawlers from other major search engines like Bing, Yahoo, etc. A few key areas where variations exist:

For one, the actual rendering and indexing capabilities can differ, especially when it comes to client-side technologies like JavaScript. Google has made huge strides in this area with their web rendering service, but other bots may still struggle more with parsing and understanding JS-heavy pages properly.

The overall crawl rate and capacity are other points of differentiation. Google simply has more resources to throw at crawling the web at a very fast pace. So you may see content get indexed quicker on Google compared to other engines with less computing power behind their crawlers.

And of course, each search engine uses its own proprietary ranking algorithm with different prioritizations and weightings across various factors like content quality, links, page experience, etc. So the same page can be ranked quite differently between engines based on the unique recipe of signals they look at.

Some engines also have specific focus areas where they may be more sophisticated than others. Google has gone all-in on things like entity understanding, passage-based ranking, and query interpretation. Other engines could be leading in different areas that impact rankings.

There can also be gaps in how closely various bots adhere to web standards, structured data guidelines, and general indexing best practices. Appropriate code implementation differences may get picked up better by certain engines.

Lastly, a factor like geographic prioritization and understanding of local search intent could provide an advantage for Google in terms of relevant, localized search results compared to more general or international search engines.

So while core best practices like great content, fast pages, and following guidelines apply everywhere, there are absolutely some nuances and differentiators in how each search engine bot interprets and ranks websites based on their own technologies and priorities. But optimizing for Google does tend to keep other engines happy too for the most part.
